Definition Of Computer?

A computer is a machine or an electric device which takes input, Process it and display output. Generally, a computer is divided into two parts One is Hardware and other is Software. Hardware and software are further explained at the end of an article.

Characteristics Of Computer?

Some of Basic Computer characteristics are :

Speed

A speed of a computer is defined as the time taken by a computer to perform a certain task. The speed of a computer is too high. A computer can perform a calculation is nano-seconds which we perform in hours. The speed of a computer is measured in GHz Giga-Hertz and it mostly depends upon Processor and Memory of computer.

Accuracy

The accuracy of a computer totally depends upon the user. If you enter a wrong data it will automatically give you wrong output. Computer accuracy works on Garbage In, Garbage Out

Formula. The accuracy of a computer also depends upon its design.

Time-Saving

As I said the speed of a computer is too high. It can perform tasks at very high speed with more efficiency. So Computer is a great time saver for us.

Non-Intelligent

A computer is a Dumb Machine. It can not do anything without instructions from a user. A computer can not take its own decisions. A computer is not intelligent like a human brain.

Versatility

The capacity of performing more than one task at the same time is known as versatility While adopting new things by its own is also known as versatility. A computer is capable of performing many tasks at the same time with 100 % of efficiency but has no ability to adapt things by its own.

Automatic

The Computer is not totally automatic. The user is required to give the data and utilize the output.

But the main thing Process is automatic.

Diligence

A computer is free from tiredness, Lack of concentration Fatigue etc. It can Work for hours without creating errors.

Storage

A Computer can store a large amount of data and also for a long time.Usually, storages of a computer depend upon its hardware. The transfer of data from one storage to other is also so easy.

As I Mentioned above that computer is generally divided into two part.

Hardware

The Physical architecture of a computer is called its hardware. We can physically touch computer hardware.

Hardware found inside of the computer is called Internal Hardware. Followings are the Examples.

Software

A set of Instructions or Program to solve a particular problem is called Software. In Other words

The Physically Untouchable part of a computer is known as software. particularly software is used to control computer hardware. The software is an Interface Between User and hardware.

There are mainly two types of software

System Softwares :

The Softwares used to manage or run computer itself is called system software. Like Operating System, Disk Operating System, BIOS etc.

System Softwares are the first and main interface between Computer Hardware and User.

System Softwares are very close to Computer Hardware.

Application Softwares :

Softwares which performs some particular tasks and designed for the end user is called Application Software. Application software totally relies on System Software. For Example Google Chrome, Firefox, Education Softwares, Business Softwares etc. Application software is designed for both General Purpose (Word, Exel, Browsers) and for Specific Purpose ( Banking Softwares, Accounts System Softwares, Cash and Carry System, Accounts System Softwares etc). These Specific Application Softwares are usually designed according to user's need.

Application Softwares are further divided into different parts.

This software is usually used for networking and managing network systems.
